Perce’s Magnetic Globe – Antique Civil War Era School Model
Pat. Mch. 15th 1864 by Elbert Perce, New York, Charles Scribner & Co.
Brass mountings with a 3 leg walnut base. Globe is 7 inches in diameter. Perce globes are extremely rare, and the three leg model is rarer than the round base typically seen in these antique globes.
It has a few small dents and is missing some of the paper covering, along with the knurled brass knob that’s used to tighten the mounting. All these items can be corrected with a restoration.
This piece displays beautifully, and would make a great centerpiece in a library or foyer.
